Sales Manager (Former Employee) – Johannesburg – 5 February 2019
I was stationed as a Sales Manager for a franchise and told over text that the franchise would be moving. The uncertainty led to all staff losing employment and a number still unemployed. Honesty was lacked and all new opportunities blocked by line managers should new employers contact them for references
Financial Planner (Former Employee) – Bloemfontein, Free State – 19 December 2018
The company pay huge and very attractive commission for your successful attempts. Your success is mainly dependent on the clients that you find. I felt that one must be driven by money to be successful. No mercy for the client. All expenses paid from your own pocket and gets deducted from commission earned. My expenses exceeded earnings too many times and forces me to give up the hunt for money.
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) – Bellville, Western Cape – 7 November 2018
It was great working at Sanlam although the job security was not good because it was only commission based, so if you do not have enough sales you wont have a take home income. The lapses are also one of major job insecurity.

Day at work - I manage my own time Needed to be disciplined and time management was vital No Micro management and flexible culture Not making sales as its pure commission closing the deal and hand shake from the client.
Sanlam was fun workplace to e in and needs a very dedicated person to work in. There was great team work amongst team members. a great place to develop sales skills and customer care. a very good company. The hardest part of the job was to convince clients to keep their policy but with patience and persuading them helped and needed you to form relations with them. Having a client taking a policy and keep it and continue paying seeing the client happy to receive the service we give was the most enjoyable.
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) – Rustenburg, North West – 24 August 2018
Its a challenging job as it requires you to know all other African languages not every one can read and write English. It also needs a lot of patience as its commission based salary. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting different people everyday and different races, you build a long relationship with them. The manager that I worked for was very motivational and understanding and helpful to new clients. The Amin staff were forever there when you needed certain documents even during after hours.I have learned the value of saving for the future as you may never know what the future may bring but it will be a lot easier when you are prepared for it.
you work according to your appointments with clients
The fact that there was no basic salary was a challenge. Each month is a different paycheck. It all depends on the amount of work you put in. Sales is a competitive industry and you need to have the heart for it.
SALES EXECUTIVE (Former Employee) – Bloemfontein, Free State – 13 June 2018
Working conditions was excellent. The hardest part of the job was when i receive lapses and it had a tremendous influence on my salary. A typical day at work is to go out and do cold calling and also see 10 clients a day for new business. I learned that the only way that you can succeed is hard work and be committed in what you do. Management excellent. Their door is always open and will always help you with anything.
