Great company to work in and very professional.
The employees at the Vineyard hotel are friendly and professional. They made sure that I learn as much as I can and treated me like one of them. Great customer service is their main goal, they always want to exceed the guests expectations.

The workplace is okay.
My time with the Vineyard Hotel has been a learning experience. I've grown in my position as a Creditors Controller. I've learnt to be assertive and decisive in my job. Management leaves alot to be desired unfortunately as there is alot of favouritism. Hardest part of the job: dealing with negative people. Enjoyable part of the job: sorting out problems.
Pros
Uniform, free lunches
Cons
unfairness/favouritsm

A typical day at work was just for me to make sure all the vegetables are peeled and the soups are made.
I learned different cooking skills.

My co-workers were mostly friendly.

The hardest part of my job was trying not to cut myself with the sharp knives.

The most enjoyable part was learning how to cook different meals.

I was employed as a Debtors clerk for 5 years and was then promoted to Financial Manager where I was a little out of my depth.

Management were always good and supportive. I worked very well

with all the staff in the office and other departments

The hardest part of the job was getting to grips with all the standards laid down by the Financial Partner.

Most enjoyable part was having a special relationship with everyone I came into contact with.
Pros
uniform
Cons
felt like I was failing a lot

standards are dropping
Staff moral is at a all time low and people are not motivated to be there. Yet they do not forward these complaints to management and therefore nothing is done to the situation. my last months there i was extremely unhappy as short staffinf lead to frustrations being taking out on the trainees to push to perform but they keep shifting you from pillar to post never really giving you time to settle and find your feet. the best part of the job is having a good service and the hardest is when u didnt anticipate the rush of walk in tables.
Pros
I really learnt a lot in my time there
Cons
long hours, pettiness and sabotage amongst staff where is the team work?

Informative and rewarding
Working in the hospitality industry is definitely not for everyone and can be tough at times, but I valued my time working here as it taught me how to work in a team effectively. It was interesting learning the ins and outs of the service industry and having a job that was service oriented as it taught me how to work well with all sorts of different people. It also taught me how to manage different personalities as part of a team and how to communicate with people at all different levels within the industry.
Pros
Meeting people and being in a social environment
Cons
Work is not very stimulating and the hours are not great
